The course offers the opportunity to study a broad range of areas including painting; printmaking; 3 - D, covering ceramics and sculpture in a variety of materials; drawing, textiles and graphics, including some computer aided design. Each student will begin with the general course which covers all of these areas.

Two hours lesson time per week.

The department is also available during lunchtimes and after school.

Course Delivery

The course is generally delivered in the form of assignments which allow the students to produce specific or more open outcomes. Students are encouraged to take the opportunity to develop their own special interests and skills, in areas they enjoy. Experimentation with materials and media is encouraged and students are free to develop their ideas independently.

Assessment Method

The course is assessed as 60% coursework, 40% terminal examination. At the end of the course, each student's work is displayed in a final exhibition.

A grade is given, initially by the teaching staff, and then by an external moderator.
