Qualification

AQA - GCSE

Students are introduced to dark room techniques, camera work, digital manipulation and general principles of composition, image making and problem solving. After an initial introduction to the necessary skills, students are required to produce assignments which show a personal response to subjects selected according to the individual's particular interests.

Students will work in school and on location.

Films will be processed and themes developed into finished presentations for exhibition.

Entry Requirements

No previous experience in art and design is necessary

Course Delivery

At times the course will require the group to come together for presentations and discussions.

However, on the whole, pupils will be tutored on an individual basis and will be allocated dark room time and use of cameras, according to individual needs.

Students will be required to produce a minimum of three practical coursework assignments.

Assessment Method

A minimum of three practical coursework assignments and one assignment produced under examination conditions is necessary to satisfy examination requirements.

Work will be assessed in school and moderated by an external examiner.

 

Progression from the course

Pupils have in the past advanced to A level, HND Photography Courses, Foundation Courses and eventually Degree Courses.

The course is valuable as a subject which shows the candidate's ability to work creatively and independently in a modern technology which requires a methodical and self-motivated approach.
