During Key Stage Three, pupils will have worked on three main areas: Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing. Also ICT skills will have been developed. This work will be based on the National Curriculum programmes of study closely linked to the National Literacy Strategy.
Pupils will be encouraged to speak fluently and actively listen.They will have participated in a variety of individual, pair and group and drama activities.
Throughout the Key Stage, pupils will have read and analysed a wide variety of texts,including fiction and non-ficton. During Year 9, pupils will study a Shakespeare play. They will have continued to enhance their own reading preferences through private reading.
Also, pupils will have developed their written work in terms of complexity and accuracy, having opportunities to assess and redraft their own work.
At the end of Key Stage Three, pupils will sit the SATS examination, receiving a National Curriculum Level for English.
