Qualification
AQA - Vocational A level (AVCE) single award equialent to one A level
This comprises six units - three are compulsory:-
- Equal opportunities and clients rights
- Communicating in health and social care
- Factors affecting human growth and development
- Students can then choose three additional units covering other topics including Physical aspects of health and Health, Social Care and Early years services.

Entry Requirements
Good GCSE results, particularly in Science, and an interest in Health and Social Care topics
Course Delivery
There will be class and community projects, visits, speakers and laboratory work. Use of ICT facilities is also an important part.
Students will usually take part in a work placement related to their studies.
Assessment Method
Assessment for each unit is either through portfolio (coursework) or external assessment completed at the end of each unit.
The examination board will specify the externally assessed units.
Progression from the course
This course is ideally suited to students taking three traditional 'A' levels who wish to broaden their range of studies.
It would provide a valuable introduction to university courses such as Ethics, Psychology and Sociology.
