Qualification
AQA - Vocational A level - Dual Award (AVCE) equivalent to two A levels
This comprises six compulsory units and a choice of six from a list of optional units.
The compulsory units cover topics on equal opportunities, communication, physical aspects of health, human development, research in health and social care and health, social care and early years services.
The optional units cover an extensive range of topics related to health and social care issues.

Entry Requirements
Good GCSE results, particularly in Science, and an interest in a caring career or in medical services or primary teaching.
Course Delivery
There will be class and community projects, visits, speakers and laboratory work. Use of ICT facilities is also an important part
Students will usually take part in a work placement related to their studies.
Assessment Method
Assessment for each unit is either through portfolio (coursework) or external assessment completed at the end of each unit.
The examination board will specify the externally assessed units.
Progression from the course
This qualification offers you:
- Progression into Higher/Further Education e.g. Nursing Degree Courses or other Health Care related Vocational Degree Courses.
- Primary School teaching or a direct pathway to employment.
