Pupils will continue to practise the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing through the following themes:

• Theme 1 : My World
• Theme 2 : Holiday Time and Travel
• Theme 3 : Work and Lifestyle
• Theme 4 : The Young Person in Society

 

Curriculum

Two/three hours lesson time per week.

Course Delivery

Pupils will continue to work in class sets. Learning activities will follow a pattern already familiar to pupils: group work and pair work as well as individual class and homework assignments.

In the past it has been possible to organise an exchange visit for those interested to help improve communication skills.

Assessment Method

The three skills of Listening, Speaking and Reading are examined at the end of the two year course. There are two different levels of entry:

Foundation (for grades C - G) or
Higher (for grades D - A*)

Each skill (listening, speaking, reading and writing) accounts for 25% of the total mark.

The writing element of the course consists of three coursework assignments instead of a written examination at the end of two years.
