In - house Lifeskills Examination

Modules of work are studied on Careers and Guidance; Preparation for the World of Work; Citizenship (including law, systems of government and issues affecting the developing world); Health Education; and Economic and Industrial understanding.

Students will also continue their Individual Action Plan, prepare a Career Action Plan and build both into their Record of Achievement.

One hour lesson time per week

Course Delivery

The course depends heavily on the participation of students in classroom discussion, research work and role-plays or simulations. When appropriate, visiting speakers assist in projects. A one-week placement of work experience takes place at the end of Year 10. Enterprising groups or individual students can expect to undertake personal and group projects involving work outside the school.

Assessment Method

There are no formal assessments during the course, although progress is monitored through the student Individual Action Plan which leads to the Career Action Plan at the end of Year 11. Citizenship will be assessed through coursework and participation in activities.
